This is a photo Blog that I like to call "Wisconsin Portrait."

My life as a photojournalist, and Chief Photographer for the Wisconsin State Journal can be exciting and fast paced, with news and sports assignments making up a large part of my professional working life. As a photographer that is not enough.

My job as a professional observer has opened my eyes to many things around me. I can't drive down a street or take a walk, without seeing as a photographer.

Most of the pictures I want to feature here are snapshots around the state. Hopefully showing you these pictures will open your eyes to things you may see everyday, but not really look at.

Mud Wrestling-Against Pigs

Last weekend the Stoughton Fair in Stoughton, Wis. had to postpone its annual Friday night Pig Wrestling event because of the warm temperatures and concern for the pigs’ safety. The good news was that cooler temperatures on Sunday made for nice afternoon event.
For those who don’t know how to pig wrestle, the goal is for a team of four people to pick up a pig and place it on top of a rubber tub in the fastest time. I’m not really sure what is in the “mud” but I’m guessing it would have been a better idea to be one of the first contestants. I’m not sure what happens when you squeeze a pig, but it can’t be good. It was a fun event and in all chases the pig seemed to be the one who was winning. I think they let the people place them on top of the tub after rubbing their faces in the mud for a while.
